Requirements

The following is a list of engineering and marketing requirements composed by our team with our clients needs in mind.

Marketing Requirements

M.1. Rechargeable battery; solar charge capability

M.2. Collects data on how much power is harvested vs how much is dissipated by the circuit.

M.3. Ensure enough power for data transmission

M.4. Resistant to temperature condition in space

M.5. Cache of data stored physically on satellite, and sent back to ground control with main sensor data.

M.6. Entire system under $1,000 to create

M.7. Can track status of batteries

M.8. Tracks status of solar panels

M.9. Has fail safe features

M.10. Maximum size of 10cm by 10cm by 10cm (length, width, height)

M.11. Must weigh under 2 Kg

Engineering Requirements

​

E.1. Solar panels must operate at 75 percent efficiency such that we only lose 25 percent of power harvested               from the solar panels across our circuit. 

E.2. Must be reliable; must last at least 100 orbits.

E.3. Can withstand down to -40 degrees C and up to 120 degrees C

E.4. Lightweight must weigh less than 1kgm

E.5. Powers off circuit when voltage is less then 3v

E.6. Powers on circuit after two hours

E.7. Coulombmeter to detect power in vs power out

E.8. NiCad rechargeable batteries

E.9. TI board to use as control or main node of system

E.10. SD card for data storage

E.11. Data will be sent to main processor via serial connection.
